Fuel Cost Calculator

Estimate the fuel cost for your trip based on distance, fuel efficiency, and fuel price.

What is a Fuel Cost Calculator?

A fuel cost calculator estimates how much fuel and money you'll need for a trip. It considers your vehicle's fuel efficiency, the distance you're traveling, and the current fuel price. This helps you budget for road trips and compare the cost of different vehicles.

Fuel Cost Formula

Total Cost = (Distance ÷ Fuel Efficiency) × Fuel Price
Fuel Needed = Distance ÷ Fuel Efficiency (in km/L or MPG)

Frequently Asked Questions

Good fuel efficiency varies by vehicle type: Hatchbacks: 15-22 km/L, Sedans: 12-18 km/L, SUVs: 8-14 km/L, Electric vehicles: equivalent of 50+ km/L. Higher km/L numbers mean better efficiency.
Fill your tank completely, note the odometer reading. Drive normally until you need to refuel. Fill the tank again and note the litres filled and new odometer reading. Divide distance driven by litres filled. Example: 500 km ÷ 35 L = 14.3 km/L.
Yes, running the AC can increase fuel consumption by 5-15% depending on conditions. However, at highway speeds, AC is more efficient than opening windows (which creates drag). In city driving, opening windows can be more fuel-efficient.
